MRI Scan

Cross-sectional images of soft tissue produced with a magnetic field and radio waves. It involves no ionising radiation and is preferred for the brain, spine, joints and abdomen.

How the test works

  1. 1

The referral and your earlier tests are recorded when the appointment is booked.

  2. 2

Where an MRI scan needs preparation, the fasting, medication and clothing rules are shared in writing beforehand.

  3. 3

The scan or sampling is completed within the planned time, accompanied by a technician.

  4. 4

A specialist reviews the report; the result is uploaded to the online archive and you are notified.
